Wicked in Concert 2027: cities, dates and what “live” means

NME reports that Wicked and Wicked: For Good are becoming live-to-film concert experiences. A symphony orchestra will perform in sync with the movie rather than the cast restaging the musical; the first announced run begins with San Francisco on January 16, 2027.

What “in concert” means

The films will be projected on a large screen while a full orchestra performs Stephen Schwartz’s songs and the score by Schwartz and John Powell live to picture. It is not a newly filmed stage version.

The first route

The announced Part One run starts with a San Francisco preview on January 16 and a New York premiere on January 23, followed by Chicago, three Mexican cities, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. More cities are promised, but unannounced stops are not dates yet.
