Late onset

by Gossip Daddy on October 31, 2008

Call me slow on the uptake but I hadn’t actually checked out the collection that included the boots we’ve all been dying over for the past couple months. Aside from discovering that they come in MINT and ORANGE SHERBET (just the knowledge that they’re out there somewhere makes me happy), I’ve decided that I’m in desperate need of ink splattery tie dyed minidresses, however unsold I remain on the monochromatic pastel look. Oh yeah, and they come in a transparent/black combination too. Topshop, how were these not mass produced? Mmm shiny stiff ruffles. The latest more affordable wares - I would have bought the cardigan but I swear to God Topshop has already sucked away wayyy too much of my money this month. I’m awaiting not one but two orders..bad bad. Included are Kate Moss wet-look skinnies, the studded Gucci k/o boots, and a D.I.P. dress. Though I doubt I would have been able to resist if she had recreated any of the three dresses on the left… (sources: elle, topshop)

[Oksana Pidhoreckyj, Karen Albanese, Alexandra Pearce, Bill Chester, Olena Pidhoreckyj, Victor Furmanec, Barbara Wichowska. Photos by MICHAEL PLUNKETT for PMc ] Yesterday evening I joined some fabulous people for the Paul Chester Children’s Hope Foundation ’s Masquerade Casino Benefit at 13 Crosby Street. Surrounded by equestrian portraits galore (very Steven Klein-esque), I mingled with some great philanthropists in some inventive costumes (the vampire in particular actually scared me). Host Jennifer Bell and supporters donned wigs and masks while playing poker. Among the guests were David Chines, Nathalie deBerry, People Magazine’s Peter Castro, and designer Alvin Valley , who all surrounded the roulette tables and played poker in support of the organization. More story and photos below: The Foundation’s founder Dr. Bill Chester discussed how the fund was set up three years ago in an apartment among friends, they are currently growing medical programs in Quito, Ecuador and Laikipia, Kenya, reaching out to their local partners in that are. The PCCHF is a foundation that medical support and vital assistance to improve the lives of families in third world countries by administering outreach programs and providing critical health resources for these areas. He reiterated his sheer appreciation for the generous support, as they are only able to fund their valiant efforts through these special events that bring charitable people to the forefront of medical outreach. The foundation is currently reaching out to Tomaco, Colombia as well as Honduras. The money raised yesterday evening will go straight to funding the delivery of anesthesia machines to these countries, a vital necessity for these impoverished areas. The fund was named after Paul Chester, 1987-2003, and has been running strong for three years. Ariel Moses, David Chines Brad Ross, Tony Pintauro, Gisela Aydin, Sharon Pak, Justin Monnig

Marilyn Monroe Look-Alike Exhibits Art In The City

by Gossip Daddy on October 31, 2008

Go HERE for more photos by Ari Cohen Last night we were lucky to attend the opening reception for Norwegian artist Unni Askeland’s exhibit  FRIEZED:BLONDIE IN THE FOREST. The exhibit, held at the Heiberg Cummings Design studio will be  up from October 30th-Nov 21.  Guests were treated to the amazing vocals of blues singer Terri White , while Unni bounced around the room making sure to talk to each arriving visitor. The artist, described as the “enfant terrible” of the contemporary Norwegian art scene, lived up to her glamorous reputation as she sipped wine in a  audacious leopard print dress. More Story and Photos by Ari Cohen below… A little later on I slipped a velvet robe, that I had just purchased for my Halloween costume(mix between a genie and a wizard), on Unni. She wore it with true royal splendor. This exhibit of landscapes depicting the country surrounding Oslo, Norway was a departure from Unni’s well known pop art paraphrases of 20th centruy icons. In 2006 New York welcomed Unni’s Big Blonde series of portraits depicted famous blondes from Mae West to Marilyn Monroe.Guests of the opening included a who’s who of Scandanavian art lovers including, Ina Johannesen, Turid Meeker,Terri White and many others.  Unni’s art work shares in the tradition of other New York pop artists, like Andy Warhol, who used iconic images of themselves and other celebrities to make statements about contemporary society. Hopefully you can catch Unni running around town this weekend, I hear she is looking for a  Halloween party to attend. Wouldn’t she make a great Marilyn?

Tim And Jason Take On Manhattan And The YPLC Gala

by Gossip Daddy on October 31, 2008

Tim Morehouse, Richie Rich, Jason Rogers at 1Oak Go HERE for more photos of Tim and Jason’s adventure. Yesterday, we introduced you to Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers , the cute Olympic silver medal fencers that are putting down their sabres to get to know the NYC social set for a bit.  They ended their night at 1Oak with Richie Rich (we must have JUST missed them!), but they put out a decent effort prior to that.  They started their night at the Italian clothing store, Eredi Pisaco store on Madison and were the guests of Edward Johnston-Balodis, (Ph.D) and Elena Chernousova who they had meet at the Sak’s “Key to the Cure” event.  Jason, being Italian, apparently made a good impression there because they were given gift bags with cashmere sweaters, shirts and ties.  Next stop: Davidoff’s. More story and photos below: The boys hit up Davidoff’s at just the right time.  People from the high end barber shop “Spiff’s” were there to give Tim a much needed pampering (shave and manicure), to start off his night right, while Jason was left talking up the store owner.  Next stop: The Time Warner Building for the Young Patrons of the Lincoln Center masquerade ball. At the event, in the Allen room, Tim and Jason did a walk down the red carpet in their masks before hobnobing with gossip girl’s Nicole Fiscella and Amanda. There was a bar on every floor (one was a new citrus vodka, one a rum bar, and one all champagne).  They watched as Uma Thurman presented an award to designer Zac Posen.  Afterwards they shared a conversation with Zac who was familiar with fencing from his alma mater St. Anne’s.  On to 1Oak before finally calling it a night! We look forward to hearing more from Tim and Jason as they document their adventures around Manhattan, and seeing Jason in his Wolverine costume!

by Gossip Daddy on October 31, 2008

(scans by rox_yr_sox at tFS) I don’t think better inspiration pictures exist for a foggy day at the beach. Halloween usually marks the beginning of colder weather in California so layering might enter the equation soon. Hope everyone enjoys the holiday! My Childlike Empress headpiece is almost complete.
