Dow Ends Slightly Down After 850-Point Swing

Stocks soared hundreds of points when the stock market opened this morning, but ended close to starting level , with the Dow falling 76 points to 9,310 (-0.82%) and the S&P 500 falling 0.53%. However, tech stock worries dragged down the Nasdaq 3.54%. Church Capital Management portfolio manager Michael Church told CNBC was optimistic, ” I think the death spiral has probably been taken off the table here and it’s time to begin to get invested again. ” Less optimistic: A new economic forecast released says that the financial crisis could lead to NYC losing up to 165,000 jobs over the next two years.
